Last night the little guy and I were talking about our trip to Japan.
.
For weeks after we came back, every day he would say how much he missed Japan, and how we should get on an airplane and go back. Eventually he stopped, but last night he started saying it again. “I miss Japan,” “I love Japan,” “I want to go back to Japan.”
.
What did he love so much? Snacks-chocolate mushrooms and Doremon cookies. Riding in the airplane with the big red bird on the tail. The hotel rooms. Playing with his toys halfway around the world.
.
It’s sad to me how much he’s already forgetting about the trip. I knew it would happen, of course-he’s only four. It was hard to pick a good time to go, since his brothers are so much older than he is. But I’m planning to make him a special memory book he can look at to remember all the fun things we did.
.
This is the Golden Pavillon in Kyoto-I bet he doesn’t remember it, but it’ll go in the memory book.
